In 2016, BFCHA updated the 2012 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). The results of the CHNA provided baseline data for developing the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The CHIP is the instrument to planning new services and improving or reorienting existing services and establishing benchmarks for tracking changes in health status over time. Community members confirmed that the focus still needs to be on the original two strategic issues in the 2013 – 2017 CHIP:
- Improve access to health care
- Reduce Obesity
A third strategic issue was identified:
- Improve the Mental/Behavioral Health System
